How to use the cheat codes for sims 3 pc?

I bought the sims 3 this weekend for the pc and unable to use the cheat codes. I can bring up the menu with shift+ctrl+c but when i enter the code is says it not a known code. Has anyone else had this problem?How to use the cheat codes for sims 3 pc?

A lot of the cheats on TS3 are different from TS2. The easiest thing to do would be to get Awesome Mod. You have to update it I think every 2 weeks for bug fixes and stuff, and it'll remind you and close your game and then you can update it and start the game again. But it's like TS2, you can type help and there's a list of cheats you can type in, including some that wouldn't work for TS3 before. i forget what it is..but goto gamefaqs.com - even from sims 1 n sims 2 once u do the shift + ctrl + c you had to type in something first to allow the cheats to be able to become active to type in..if you dont the cheats will never work.
